The IOM-Migration Research and Training Centre (IOM-MRTC) and the Scalabrini Migration Center hosted a forum on Labor Migration from the Philippines and Korea: EPS Through the Eyes of Filipino Workers. The event took place on 26 August 2018, 2-5 PM, at KEB Hana, Seoul. Thank you to the 70-80 Filipino workers, officials of the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, and other participants who came to the event. The forum featured the following: the sharing of findings on the migratory experiences of Filipino in Korea and their return to the Philippines; an introduction to the ongoing research on the impact of the EPS on labor migration governance, cooperation between the Philippines and Korea, and migrant worker protection (thank you to Korea Foundation); real-life experiences of an EPS worker and a community leader; the reintegration support provided by POLO; and investment opportunities in agriculture and savings/investment options. The open forum brought out the concerns of Filipinos in Korea. The event was energized by the dance and song numbers rendered by our talented kababayans. Thank you to the support of the staff of IOM-MRTC, Ms. Gennie Kim, and the Filipino EPS Workers Association. Thanks to FILIPOS (Filipino Photographers in South Korea) for the photo documentation of the event.
