Singapore sees local employment up in 2012 amid foreign employment controls
SINGAPORE, March 15 — Singapore sees local employment grow by 58,700, or 2.9 percent in 2012, much higher than the gains of 37,900, or 1.9 percent in 2011, mainly due to the tighter foreign manpower controls conducted by the authorities, the city- state’s Ministry of Manpower said on Friday.
