This booklet summarizes the main aspects concerning the Asian economic crisis, which officially began in 1997, and its impact on labor migration. The discussion on the impact of the crisis on migration is presented along with an assessment of its direct effects on East and Southeast Asian countries and some recommendations  to improve migration policies and practices in the region.
