This publication gathers a selection of papers presented at the 1995 conference on “Asian Women in Migration” organized by SMC in Manila. It is organized around five aspects: the theoretical framework; the overview of female labor migration in Asia and female migration from Asia to a traditional country of immigration; the issues related to migration for domestic work in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan; the specific migratory situation deriving from intermarriage; and aspects concerning the protection available to migrant women and its relevance in the wider context of recent international conferences.
