May Bukas Pa: The Children of OFWs in the time of COVID-19
July 03 2020
The University of Hong Kong (UHK) and Scalabrini Migration Center (SMC), in cooperation with the Episcopal Commission for Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI), launched the Migration Outlook Webinar Series this July focusing on the impact of COVID-19 on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. The webinars seek to explore how overseas Filipino workers and their families are doing during this time of the pandemic, to know their concerns, and to explore ways to provide support and assistance. The webinars will feature the lived experiences of OFWs and their families, insights from researchers and counseling practitioners, and practical information on programs and services that may accessed by migrants and their families.
The first webinar, “May bukas pa: COVID-19 and the children of OFWs,” was livestreamed on July 3, 3:00-4:30 PM (Philippine Standard Time). “May bukas pa” translates in English to “There is still tomorrow.” Please find the link to the webinar here.
