On September 24, 2025, the Scalabrini Migration Center hosted a research and policy forum entitled “Parental Migration and Family Welfare: Unboxing Intergenerational Relationships, Resource-Building, and Children\u2019s Experiences” featuring key findings from the third wave of the Child Health and Migrant Parents in South-East Asia (CHAMPSEA) project.

Dr. Lucy Jordan (James Cook University, Principal Investigator of CHAMPSEA III) gave an overview of CHAMPSEA and highlighted key findings across all three waves of data. Dr. Marla Asis and Bernard Garcia (SMC) presented the profile of the Wave 3 households. Dr. Geoffrey Ducanes (ADMU, SMC) discussed the impact of migration on the economic well-being of Wave 3 households. Eunice Tejada (SMC) shared insights into the aspirations of young adults from Waves 2 and 3. Dr. Melissa Garabiles (DLSU, SMC) shared findings exploring the health and well-being outcomes of children and young adults in Wave 3.

The event also marked the soft launch of three CHAMPSEA Wave 3 policy briefs, shared with stakeholders from government, academe, civil society, the private sector, and international organizations, encouraging meaningful policy dialogue and evidence-based reflection on transnational families and the well-being of children and families. The fourth and last policy brief on the health and well-being of Wave 3 households will be released at a later date.
