This report summarizes the findings and key policy recommendations of a research project jointly undertaken by the OECD Development Centre and the European Commission in ten partner countries, namely, Armenia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Cote d’Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, Georgia, Haiti, Morocco and the Philippines.

The research probed (1) how multiple dimensions of migration affect some key sectors for development, including the labor market, agriculture, education, investment and financial services, and social protection and health, and (2) how policies in these sectors affect the development impact of migration.

The research generated data from surveys of more than 20,500 households, interviews with 590 local authorities and community leaders, and 375 in-depth stakeholder interviews in the ten participating countries. The research in the Philippines was implemented by SMC and the Philippine report was co-authored by SMC and the OECD Development Centre.
